28 May 2009Two weeks ago we were working on the landscaping at the new house and decided to add some low-voltage landscape and architectural lighting. I’ve seen several houses around town that I thought had nice lighting so I just planned a design based on those houses.
So we headed over to Lowe’s and picked up a 600 watt Low Voltage Transformer. It has two 300 watt circuits and a timer built in. The first circuit I used for the lighting beside the garage, on the front left of the house and the walkway lighting. The second curcuit was used to light the front right of the house the right side of the house and the tree in the front. I still have about 100 watts left for expansion if I need it later on.

As far as lights go, I used 7 50 watt halogen lights. Those are the lights on the house and one on the tree. Then I used 20 watt lights for other highlighting and used these lights from Lowe’s for the walkway. I also used a rock light for the bush in the main landscape area.
Overall, we are really happy with the result. Let’s just hope the Electric bill isn’t through the roof!

Just got the May issue of Scoreboard finished last night at about midnight. The new issue is 58 pages full of articles, photos and ads. It has a really cool Talladega spread featuring the Carl Edwards last lap wreck. And this month we have quite a few new advertisers (what recession?). Should be on news stands by early next week.
Now it’s time to try to catch up on all the sleep I missed this weekend and start concentrating on a couple of new projects with Fleck. Oh and I can’t forget, I need to get Ella’s playset together… yeah.

Monday night was Ella’s first tee ball game. Calling it a ‘game’ might be a bit of a stretch. ‘Organized chaos’ may be a better description. It’s basically 28 or so 3 and 4 year-olds flocking after the ball for 1 inning of batting for each team. No outs, no strikes, no first baseman, and for that matter no rules. But it was a blast. When not playing in the dirt, Ella would follow the rest of the kids chasing the ball. And her turn up to bat she got a great hit. She forgot to run, but at least she made contact with ball. Here’s one of the photos from Monday. I’ll get more up on Flickr later. Enjoy!

Was searching for a file and happened upon this logo design I created for appraisercollege.com. This project was started with my good friend Carl Ringwall (data systems+). Unfortunately we never made it out of R&D so the logo never saw the light of day… well, until now.

So here’s the start of a new blog. I’ve had several blogs over the years (Formerly Blind, Ella’s birth, Ella’s surgery), but I want to bring everything together on this one. Life (Faith, Family, Music) + Design.
